Meet The Team
Since the beginning of our work as the new International Dimensions team we have been prioritising a few main projects, those being the pen pal project for students in Thanthwe, which has since been launched, and the Scieneer project. Our team is also currently working on starting a fundraiser for the school in Thanthwe.
Additionally, the team is considering taking on the 'grandmas' cookbook' project in which we would collect recipes from students' grandmas an exchange then with the students in Thanthwe, which may pair well with the pen-pal project.
Meet The Team:
Brighe:
My name is Brighe and I am a part of the International Dimensions team for 2026/27. I am currently helping to organise and plan the fundraising for this year. This fundraising is all about our partner school in Malawi called Thanthwe primary school, where we are funding for desks and rebuilding the classrooms that we have previously built for them. We are still in the process of organising the event, but we are planning a whole school walk, which includes all the school. The International Dimensions may also be helping with the bake sale during sports day with the school council, where we can help raise funds for the school.
Connie:
My name is Connie and I am part of the international dimensions team 2026-27. This year we will be carrying out the Sci-international club again. This is where a group of 6-8 students will be producing their own business plan, creating the products and then selling them abroad to our partner school in India, Sci-international. These students have a £100 budget and will be sitting in on zoom calls to ask the Indian student's market research questions, to be able to effectively create products the students in India desire. We will meet these students in the next school year when they come over for a visit, and exchange products so that students at Sci-international school can purchase them. This is a good opportunity for the year 10 students to put their knowledge they learn in business studies lessons into real life practice, whilst being good to put on their CV's.
Rosie:
In this week in the pen pal project, the year 7s typed up and finished there letters for their students in Thanthwe. They were all assigned students who had the same favourite subject, meaning they had something in common. These pen pal emails were then sent onto the pen pal supervisor Rosie who then edited them before sending them along to the deputy head at Thanthwe primary school. This project will be continued each week, with the students communicating until the rest of the year and into next year.
